Agnes Setshwantsho, who was charged with plotting the deaths of her relatives for insurance payout was back at the Molopo Magistrates' Court today where her bail application hearing continued. The 49-year-old woman from Mahikeng in North West, has been dubbed as the Rosemary 2.0, after the infamous former cop and serial killer Rosemary Ndlovu, who was convicted of killing her family members for insurance money.
Setshwantsho is facing four charges including murder, fraud, and defeating the ends of justice. She is accused of killing her niece earlier this year. The death was initially thought to be natural but her body was exhumed and a postmortem was conducted. It was ruled that she died from being poisoned. She is also suspected of being behind the deaths of her two daughters and her policeman husband. It further emerged in court that Setshwantsho has 58 insurance policies she took against family members.
Lead Investigator Sergeant Keshi Mabunda, who also cracked the Rosemary case, told the court that the police will be exhuming the body of Setshwantsho's late husband as he passed away mysteriously. "We are going to exhume the bodies of her husband, her daughter who died in 2005 and another one who died mysteriously in 2016," he said. National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Henry Mamothame said that the State will not hesitate to add more charges. He added that there were no compelling reasons for Setshwantsho to be granted bail. The case was postponed to December 13 for the continuation of the bail application.
