Family, friends and fans of the late actor Shona Ferguson gathered yesterday to pay their respects at his tombstone unveiling ceremony. The theme for the event was all white and guests showed up in their finest white attire to honour the beloved actor. Ferguson was a prominent figure in the South African entertainment industry, known for his talent on both the big and small screen. He passed away in July 2021 after a battle with COVID-19.


A BITTERSWEET MOMENT 


The event was a somber but beautiful tribute to a man who was loved and respected by many. As guests mingled and shared stories, it was clear that Shona's memory will continue to live on through his work and the people he touched. The all-white theme was a fitting choice for the occasion, representing purity, peace, and unity. Music was provided by musos Bongani Sax, gospel singer Teboho Moloi and his daughter Aliia played drums.


FOND MEMORIES 


At the unveiling ceremony, speakers remembered Shona for his kindness, professionalism, and dedication to his craft. They spoke about the impact he had on the industry and the many lives he touched throughout his career. Giving a speech at the ceremony, Ferguson shared a grief poem by Donna Ashworth titled I wish I knew. The Generations:The Legacy actress also read one of the letters she says she wrote to Shona after his passing read one of the letters, she says she wrote to Shona after his passing. "When they say that someone is never truly gone until you stop remembering them. I think there is truth in this, when you left this earth, a great part of me went in sync, but I think you left some of yourself behind for me to find," Ferguson said. She said she found as many reasons as she could to talk about him and that brought back memories she had about her husband. Ferguson, her children Alicia and Lesedi together with her stood by the tombstone and released white doves just after the unveiling.
