Actress and Brenda Fassie's ex-lover down and out

Sindi Khambule was spotted in downtown Johannesburg

At the height of her career, actress Sindisiwe Khambule, who starred in TV dramas like Zone 14, Tsotsi and Yizo Yizo, said she earned R52 000 in two weeks. But despite earning good money, having a nice apartment and cars, the actress, who is also the late singer Brenda Fassie's ex-lover, said she wasn't happy and had to live the life of luxury.

FAMILY KILLED BECAUSE OF HER RICHES

Khambule revealed all this in a video taken by a fan who spotted her in the streets of Yeoville, Johannesburg, this week. The 51-year-old actress looked like the shadow of her former self with unkept hair and looked disoriented. The actress told the fan that she did not mind being filmed and posted on social media, she said cameras always find her and she will never run away. Asked if she needed help, the actress said: "I asked God, I had everything from the age of 22. I had my car, apartments, businesses, everything, but I was not happy. They killed my family because of my money. I was earning R52 000 in two weeks, and I said, God, please take it all because I want to be like everybody. God took it,' she said. When the fan asked if she needed help, she said she didn't.

SHE WAS LAUNCHED BY BRENDA FASSIE

Khambule was introduced to the media and showbiz industry by Brenda Fassie when they attended a Kora Awards event in Sun City in the early 2000s. Brenda then introduced Khambule as her latest lesbian lover to the media at her album launch at former EMI offices, Khambule was at loggerheads with her family in Pietermaritzburg. The actress then got a few acting gigs on TV and she then left Berea, where she stayed, to live in Midrand. She continued to act, and her last project, which was unreleased, was when she appeared alongside the controversial Afro-Pop singer Kelly Khumalo and Khanyi Mbau. A source who has known Khambule for more than two decades said she is homeless and trying to get assistance from people she used to stay with in Berea, Joburg. "The last time she tried her luck on TV was when she acted alongside Khanyi Mbau and Kelly Khumalo in a project from Chicco Twala, which is yet to be released. All I know is that she was always demanding a lot of payment after acting even before their project could be released," said the source. Another source who stayed next to her complex in Midrand said Khambule no longer has a phone. "She should just return home to Pietermaritzburg to start a new life. Jozi has dealt a big blow to this once beautiful lady," said the source.
