The matter against five men accused of the murders of Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes and his celebrity chef friend Tebello 'Tibz' Motsoane has been postponed to November pending further investigation. AKA and Tibz were gunned down in February last year outside Wish restaurant on Florida Road in Durban, KwaZulu Natal.

FURTHER INVESTIGATION 

Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi, Lindani Zenzele Ndimande, Siyanda Eddie Myeza, Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni, and Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande appeared briefly at the Durban Magistrates Court today. Magistrate Vincent Hlatshwayo allowed the state's plea to postpone the matter to 29 November to allow them time to finalise the investigation. State prosecutor Lawrence Gcaba told the court that there have been new developments in the extradition process of the Ndimande brothers who are detained in eSwatini. Judgment in their extradition case will be handed down next week Friday. "The court should also be aware that there are financial investigations pending before a pretrial conference date can be on the cards. These investigations include the money laundering charges that were added with regards to the R800 000 that was transferred to accused number four's account," Gcaba said.

MORE ARRESTS IMMINENT

Gcaba also told the court that there are pending arrests in the matter. "This includes, but is not limited to, certain persons of interest that were approached for statements. The statements were obtained with certain explanations that needed to be followed up on, part of which involved financial investigation," he said. The accused, who were denied bail in May, are facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and five counts of attempted murder. Mkhwanazi, Ndimande, Myeza, and Gwabeni are also facing additional charges of money laundering acquisition, possession or use of proceeds of unlawful activities. The two other suspects, brothers Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande, who were arrested in eSwatini, are yet to be extradited to South Africa after their defence argued that their lives are in danger and it would be best if they remain imprisoned on that side.
