They had planned their wedding for over a year and when they thought they would finally walk down the aisle but tragedy struck. The groom suffered a seizure and passed away last week Tuesday,a few days before the wedding. The couple had planned their traditional and white wedding for Friday and Sunday respectively.

A BURIAL AND A WEDDING

Simenyiwe Mzimela (25) from Bhuchanan, outside Empangeni in the north of KwaZulu Natal, buried her fiance Thami Majola (30) on Sunday morning and continued to have a wedding later that same day. The couple was supposed to get married on Friday in a white wedding followed by a traditional wedding on Sunday. But the white wedding was cancelled after the husband passed away on Tuesday morning. Mzimela told ZiMoja that she had to honour her fiance's wishes and continue with the traditional wedding after they had laid him to rest on the same day. "I don't want to lie, Thami is still the man of my dreams. On Monday night he had called me around 02:00 am telling me how much he loved me and how badly he wanted to make me his wife. Thami told me that he will die for me and that he wants to make me the happiest woman on earth on Friday. I never expected that the next morning, he would be gone and that his wish to marry me would have never seen the light of the day," she said.

PASSING AWAY

Mzimela says that she tried calling Thami on Tuesday morning around 08:00AM and he never picked up. "I did not suspect anything, I thought that he was busy as our wedding was a few days away," she said. She added that she thought someone was playing a bad joke with her when she was told that he was no more. "I was told he collapsed at his home, had a seizure, they rushed him to a nearby clinic but by the time they arrived, he was declared dead," said Mzimela. She says she still doesn't believe she will never see the love of her life again. "I don't want to lie to you, I blamed God for what happened. I questioned my belief in Him as the saviour for putting me in so much pain, " she added.

FULFILLING HIS WISHES

After Thami's passing, Mzimela says his family asked me if she wanted to cancel their wedding plans. " I told them that I had prepared myself to become Mrs Majola and that I was prepared to marry him even if he was inside a casket. I was prepared to marry him even if he was six feet under," she said. After burying Thami on Sunday morning, she married him afterwards. "I cried a lot on that day and by the time we were finished with his burial, I gained some strength to face the people and to do what I had promised Thami, which was to become his wife. I still love him and I will forever love him for being true to me and for choosing me out of all the beautiful women in the world. We started this journey last year in April when we had umembeso, which was to be followed by a white wedding then a traditional one. I don't know why God took him away from me but as the child of God I do believe that everything happened for a reason and that I have no need to question his decision to take him away from me," she said.

Mzimela said that they had spent over R60 000 for the wedding. "What is painful is that I will never get to go to a honeymoon as we had planned because my husband is no more. Thami loved me whole heartedly and I knew from the day he proposed, he was the one. Thami did everything to keep me happy," she said. The only thing Mzimela is left with is their six year old daughter.
