A few hours after two trigger happy gunmen stormed into a birthday party and killed seven people in KwaZakhele township in Gqeberha, a 15-year old girl was shot and killed. Inako Mgidiwana from the embattled KwaZakhele township was killed as she was coming from a local tuck shop.

A BET ON HER LIFE

According to a reliable ZiMoja source in KwaZakhele, Inako was killed while trying to escape into a safe place. It is alleged that she tried to run away from the car driven by the thugs but the another male occupant kept waving a gun and betting about her life. "Witnesses told us they saw a black car with male figures who pulled up next to Inako. It is allegedly that one of the accomplices pulled out a gun and made a bet that everyone must look at him killing someone. Inako looked around and realised that these guys were not joking as they kept driving after her and laughing," said the source. "One of them shouted that people must watch him as he kills someone. And the next thing we heard was one gunshot and we saw Inako fall down. I'm still shocked. KwaZakhele has become another Cape Flats where gangsters run the city. This is the same problem we are facing in this township. Too many unemployed youth and they are abusing drugs and alcohol. Some have become criminals who are not afraid to kill and go to jail."

SHOT AT THE BACK

South African Police Service (SAPS)  Spokesman in the Eastern Cape, Colonel Priscilla Naidu confirmed the incident and said, "It is alleged that on the 29 January at about 21:00, Imako Magidiwana, aged 15 was walking from the shop in Mandleni Street in KwaZakhele when an unknown black vehicle with two unknown men stopped next to her. As she tried to run, she was shot in the back by one of the suspects. A case of murder is under investigation. No arrests have been made."
